Luke Keranen returns for his fifth season as a member of the Cougar Baseball coaching staff. He served as JV pitching coach under Coach Joe Sumler in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
Coach Keranen played four years of baseball at Courtland High School. Keranen pitched and played infield for the Cougars from 2004-2007.
He attended Rappahannock Community Community College from 2007-2009 where he pitched in relief for the baseball program. Rappahannock won state JUCO titles both seasons and Keranen was named "Fireman of the Year" in 2008 and 2009.
Coach Keranen comes from a Cougar Baseball family like few others. His older brother, Nate played infield for the 1995 AA State Championship team, and his younger brother, Clay was a standout pitcher and infielder for the Cougars, graduating in 2011.
Coach Keranen works as an Air Balancing Technician for Annandale Balancing Company. He and his wife Jennifer live in Spotsylvania and have two daughters, Addison Orlando (10) and Kate Keranen (2).
Coach Acors on Coach Keranen: "We are very fortunate to have Luke back for another spring! I had the pleasure of coaching him his senior season at Courtland. He remains one of the hardest workers to ever suit up for the Cougars. Having pitched within the framework of our philosophy, he is the perfect person to help mold our young guys. I also know I can send him to work with our seasoned pitchers, and the results will always be positive. There are no young coaches in the area better than Luke Keranen."
