Haynes Proves Tough
Apr. 4, 2017
Senior right-hander, Brandon Haynes took the ball for the Cougars yesterday afternoon and won his second consecutive start, tossing four and two-thirds innings, allowing no runs on just two hits, while striking out three and walking four. Haynes gave way in the fifth to junior right-hander, Alex Kobersteen who earned his second consecutive save in as many chances, pitching the final two and a third, allowing one (earned) run on one hit, while striking out two and issuing one free pass.
Haynes helped his cause at the plate with a single. Junior designated hitter, Brandon Raines added two singles while Garrett Howard and Stephen Bowen each drove in a run for the Cougars. Howard, Kobersteen, Ryan Lee and Jackson Sumler each scored for the Cougars on the afternoon.
The Cougars (3-2, 1-0, 1-1) travel to Chancellor tomorrow night for a 7:00 pm Battlefield District/Conference 19 showdown.
