Cougar Cubs Dominate in Championship Victory

May. 19, 2017

The Cougar Cubs finished the 2017 campaign with an exclamation mark yesterday afternoon, winning their eleventh straight game in dominant fashion.  They defeated the Chargers of Chancellor by a final score of 14-0 in five innings.

Sophomore right-hander, Jakob Glunt went the distance on the mound for the Cougar Cubs.  Glunt allowed just one hit, walked two, and struck out five in his most dominant performance of the season.  He finished the season 5-1 with a 1.11 ERA and struck out 33 in 44 innings of work.

Freshman first baseman, Ty Lowe went 2-4 at the plate and drove in four Cougar Cub runs.  Sophomore third baseman, Ethan Critz was 2-3 including a triple, driving in three runs.  Sophomore designated hitter, Caolan Walsh had two hits of his own, drove in two runs, and scored three on the afternoon.  Freshman shortstop, Owen Reilly went 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored.  Connor Dymon, a sophomore catcher went 3-3 on the day while Addie Burrow tripled and scored three runs, Drew Millner singled and scored twice, Dustin Gough had an RBI triple and scored twice, and courtesy runner, Logan Howard scored two runs on the afternoon for the Cougar Cubs.

The Cougar Cubs finish the 2017 season with a record of 15-3.  Coach Acors had this to say about the Championship victory: "I am so proud of the job these young men did this spring!  We got a complete buy in from each and every one of them right from the get go.  They are a fun group to be around, diligent in their work, sharp in their approach, and certainly a group of winners.  Special thanks to Coach Meek, Coach Primus, Coach Keranen, and Coach Knisley for their efforts, day in day out in building our program.  The future is bright here at CHS and I am looking forward to what it holds for our program.  Great job, men!  Revel in your accomplishments and come back hungry in the fall.  Don't forget to 'work while you wait.'"
