Apr 17, 2017 - Indians go 6-0 to win Perfect Game Invitational
The Indians baseball team defeated the Georgia Canes 5-3 to win the championship at Lakepoint Sports Complex. The Indians took an early lead in the first inning when Connor Herriott drove in the first run with a double to left field. The Indians extended their lead for good with three runs in the fouth inning when Saivion Mohammed singled in two runs followed by Tyler Chatham's RBI single.
Ace Williamson earned the win for the Indians going 6 inninngs, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4. Brody Hollingsworth recorded the last three outs to record the save. The Indians had 8 hits in the game with Chatham and Grayson Rainwater each collecting multiple hits for the Indians. The Indians improve to 16-8-1 on the year and travel to Hobgood Park next weekend to play in the Hobgood Park "Homerun Derby" Tournament.
The Indians took a 6-1 victory over the West Georgia Braves to win the Silver Bracket Championship. Ace Williamson went the distance on the mound throwing 3.2 innings while limiting the Braves to only 1 run on 1 hit striking out 4 and walking 2. Williamson also hit a bases loaded triple in the second inning. Austin Keener, Jaedon Rodericks, and D'Angelo Cruz had 1 RBI apiece.
Despite a big day at the dish from Grayson Rainwater, who finished 2-2, the Indians Baseball 13U lost 13-2 to five Tool at Shaw Park on Sunday.
Five Tool was sparked by Chandler and Cole, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.
In the bottom of the first, the Indians Baseball 13U grabbed the early lead, 2-0. After Rainwater tripled, the Indians Baseball 13U kept the pressure on five Tool pitching, as D'Angelo Cruz tripled, plating Brody Hollingsworth and Rainwater.
Five Tool stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring two runs on a two-run single by Chandler.
Five Tool built upon its lead with four runs in the fourth. A error scored Davenport and Marsh to get five Tool on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Chandler's single, bringing home Webb.
The Indians Baseball 13U beat East Cherokee Elite 13-0 in four innings on Sunday at East Marietta Little League Field after a 10-run explosion in the third inning. The Indians Baseball 13U scored in the third on an error, an RBI single by Savion Mohammed, a walk by Brody Hollingsworth, a hit by pitch, a passed ball, a groundout by Jaedon Rodericks, an error, a two-run error, and an RBI single by Mason Thomason. Hollingsworth boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Indians Baseball 13U. Rhett Nettles shut down East Cherokee Elite while he was on the hill. Nettles gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his three innings of work. The Indians Baseball 13U never trailed after scoring one run in the second on an RBI single by Rodericks.
The Indians Baseball 13U beat East Marietta Spikes 9-0 in five innings on Sunday at East Marietta Little League Fields after a five-run explosion in the fourth inning. The Indians Baseball 13U scored in the fourth on a two-run single by Jaedon Rodericks, an RBI single by Mason Thomason, an error, and Thomason racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Indians Baseball 13U. Tyler Chatham was in control on the mound. East Marietta Spikes managed just two hits off of Chatham, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his four innings of work. The Indians Baseball 13U stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring one run on an RBI single by Rhett Nettles.
