JACKSON SINKS THE PIRATES 9-6

The Polar Bears battled the Rocky River Pirates Tuesday on a beautiful night in Jackson Township. The team was able to come up with crucial plays throughout the game en route to a 9-6 win.
Offensively, Jackson came out hot and registered five first quarter goals on six shots. As the game went along, the Polar Bears struggled at times with turnovers. However, different players stepped up at crucial points to score timely goals. The team had seven different goal scorers on the night, which is a team high for the season. Joe Faflik earned the game ball for his one goal and one assist. Sam Shew continued to be a force at the midfield scoring three goals. John Thomas returned to the line-up and had the game clinching goal with over a minute to go. Dominic Faiella scored a huge goal towards the end of the fourth quarter to give the team a two goal cushion. Chance Clevenger was a major influence going 14/18 at the faceoff X and scoring one goal. Cole Remlinger scored a highlight reel goal on a dodge from X and also had one assist. Trent Thomas rounded out the scoring with a nice shot in transition in the first quarter.
Defensively, the Polar Bears struggled at times, but got some big stops when they were needed. The team took eleven penalties on the night which will need to be corrected moving forward. The play of the night on defense was Adam Kelly's three man down save late in the second quarter which gave Jackson possession to start the next half. Kelly earned the defensive game ball and tallied twleve saves.
The Polar Bears get right back to it as they host Wooster tonight.
The Junior Varsity squad had their best team showing of the year, also winning 9-6. Many different players stepped up to secure the win. Jaret Cole got his nose dirty as he dodged hard to the cage for a few goals. Joe Ackerman showed a lot of promise owning his one on one match ups and be effective in the clearing game. The Junior Varsity Polar Bears wrap up their season on Saturday against Hoover.
