Jackson Polar Bear Lacrosse
SEASON ENDS WITH LOSS TO HOOVER
May. 25, 2017
The 2017 season came to an end in the regional semi-finals in a 12-7 loss to rival Hoover. The Polar Bears went down 5-0 after the first quarter and was unable to overcome the deficit despite many different scoring runs. In the end, Jackson made too many mistakes and turnovers to create unsettled and second chance goals for Hoover.
Offensivly, John Thomas came to play yet again and registered four goals. Sam Shew and Dominic Faiella each registered one goal and one assist. Blake Haas had one of his best outings of the year and had one goal. Chance Clevenger went 13/21 from the face-off X and had 8 groundballs.
Defensively, the team had some nice stops in 6v6 situations, but struggled to stop the Hoover offense in unsettled situation. The failures in the clearing game and turnovers lead to the majority of Hoover's goals. Ian Gelal held his man to one assist on the night and Chase Altier limited Hoover's main scoring threat. Adam Kelly finished with thirteen saves.
This game marked the end of the Jackson Lacrosse careers for our 2017 seniors. Thank you all for your efforts the past four years and your help in shifting the Jackson Lacrosse culture. You will always be part of the Jackson Lacrosse family!
