BERWICK - Using quick starts at the beginning of each half, the Indian Valley girls basketball team jumped ahead of Selinsgrove in the Judy Knorr Holiday tournament on Tuesday, knocking off the Seals, 38-31.

Indian Valley coach Roger Herto said the Warriors played very well in the first quarter, especially Priscilla Weaver, who scored all five of her points in the opening stanza. Herto also said Indian Valley had to deal with a number of starters getting into early foul trouble.

"To the kids' credit, they played through it," he said.

Dani Treaster took over the game on the offensive end for Indian Valley. She finished the night with a game-high 19 points.

"Dani had a solid game throughout. It was probably her best game all season," Herto said. "She did a good job going to the bucket and making plays."

Although Herto said the offense isn't where he would like it to be yet, the Warriors have continued to play solid defense.

"We haven't played a bad game on defense on season," Herto said.

Indian Valley's Treaster and Whitney Corbin were named to the all-tournament team.

Indian Valley (4-3) travels to Lewistown on Jan. 4.
