Club Notes

Dec. 6, 2016

We were left ruing numerous missed chances on Saturday as we could only manage a 1-1 draw away to Magheraveely. In the opening half we created enough chances to have the game done and dusted, yet went in at half time 0-0.

Sam Lindsay going close on a few occasions, with Glen McCleery having a volley deflected narrowly over the bar and Paul McGrath hitting the post, whilst countless corners went a begging. The entire game had been played in the oppositions half, but we had nothing to show for it.

The second half continued in the same fashion, with the Magheraveely keeper really coming to the fore with some excellent saves, notably from Alan Veitch and a Stuart Cochrane header. Substitute Robbie Little eventually broke the deadlock when he raced clear and lobbed the advancing keeper.

Fellow sub Jack Kerr looked to have sealed the points with a well taken goal from 25 yards, but was adjudged offside. Alas, we were to pay the price when Magheraveely equalised in the 95th minute with virtually their first shot on target and the last kick of the match, with a scuffed shot which trickled in to the back of the net. A disappointing blow for our title aspirations which now hang delicately by a very thin thread.

Our Reserve team were at home to Enniskillen Rangers and although the opposition came close on many an occasion, could not find the back of the net. We however had no difficulty in scoring with a goal from Lee Glass and a Nathan Bryans hat trick securing a 4-0 win.

Our 3rd team travelled to face an in-form Mountjoy Reserves and with a mix of youth and experience were very much up against it, unfortunately being on the receiving end of a 6-0 defeat.

Our U19s are in action tomorrow (Wednesday) in round 2 of the Harry Cavan Youth Cup against our neighbours, Ballinamallard Youth at Fisher Park with a 7.45pm kick-off and we wish Roy and the team good luck on the night.

This Saturday our 3rd team host Glebe Reserves, our second team travel to NFC Kesh whilst our 1st team host NFC Kesh.

The draw for the 4th round of the Irish Junior Cup has taken place and we shall travel to Ballymena on Saturday 7th January 2017 where we shall face Agoghill Thistle in what shall no doubt be a tough test.

Our mini-soccer has now finished for the year so our coaches can take a well-deserved rest and we shall be in touch in the New Year to confirm when it shall re-start.

This week’s lotto numbers were 1, 8, 9 and 27 with no winners and hot-picks going to Raymond Wilson, Lizzie Weir and Kevin Bannon – the jackpot now stands at £8,150 so get your tickets in for a chance to win and have a very Merry Christmas!

Our Annual table quiz and Duck Derby will take place on Boxing Day and tickets are now available from all Managers etc, thanks as always for your continued support.

Finally don’t forget our Christmas Jumper Night out this Saturday, please let your manager or Ian Hood know if you shall be attending.
