Aug 19, 2017 - Round 13

This was a enthralling evenly matched game. Both teams were relentless in defence and on the counter attacks. Lucas had some came so close to scoring a few teams and was denied aone with a handball/grab by the opposition. Karma came into play and Abel couldn't stop his natural instinct to pick up the ball while defending the goal, so we can't complain. It was nil nil most of the game thanks to some great saves from Xavier, including a double orange ball calamity as a ball from the neaighbouring field came into play too. In the last few minutes one of the Jesters belted a long goal from about half way, but tThrough sheer determination in the dying seconds, Lucas bashed one through their final defender which rolled on into the goals. So much fun and excitement! Thanks boys.

Aug 12, 2017 - Round 12

It was a tough game and if I recall correctly Abel made a cracking goal.

Aug 5, 2017 - Round 11

I recall it was almost snowing this weekend. I am pretty sure it was a 2-2 draw. Xavier had a good game trying out an attacking position. Both teams had good opportunities.

Jul 29, 2017 - Round 10

All I can remember from this game is that the Archers had an amazing little player (see photo below). We held them at bay and the score was 2-1 until the last few minutes when our defence crumbled.

Jul 22, 2017 - Round 9 Match Report

Today's match was tense with goals from both teams coming in unexpected moments from two teams that were well matched up. The -2 degrees temperature on the fields just before the game made it tough for the boys to think and move at times, so a little vocal direction from the coach was needed on the sidelines to guide the boys attention away from the cold thoughts.

The first real action came all of a sudden from Albert making a surprising intercept and burst forward to put away a very nice long goal. The Swords had a particuarly good player 8 attacking dangerously, but the boys defended strongly to keep the score at 1-0 at half time. A few mishaps from the Spurs in the second half quickly saw the Swords take a 2-1 lead. Luckily, with some grit and determination, Lucas equalised for the Spurs with a brilliant run through the opponents from the centre of the field, showing some much improved skills from a soccer clinic over the holidays.

Jun 25, 2017 - Round 8 Match Report

The Spurs won a hard-fought and well deserved win (1-0) this week in a game that could have gone the other way. Ultimately, it was tight team defensive effort that kept the opponent's attacks at bay and a wonderful conversion from Charlie to put us up 1 nil late in the first half. Abel really stood out in this game by holding his position well and looking for open spaces to bring the ball into the attacking half. Lucas also showed some big improvements in his ability to dribble past opponents and set up opportunities to score. Albert and Xavier swapped roles for much of the game, allowing Xavier to also get up nearthe goals and have a go and he made a memorable break up the field. Albert made some great clears from the backline and dribbled straight past opponents when necessary. Ben put in a solid effort with good touches on the ball, as well as another memorable  block with his head/back from a powerful airborne ball. A feisty team effort! Keep the practise up during the winter break and tune in for some ad hoc training sessions to be announced.
