On Saturday, the Warriors made the long trek to Burlington, Vermont to take on University of Vermont in their season finale. The Warriors hung tough against the undefeated Catamounts, losing 3-0. Starting pitcher Andy Teahan kept Merrimack in the game, giving up just 3 runs over 6 innings. Merrimack’s defense played perfectly behind Teahan, but the Warriors’ bats were silenced by Vermont’s starting pitcher. In the second and final game, Merrimack lost 14-4 to the Catamounts. Senior Kyle Murphy in his last game for the Warriors had a two- run double to cut Vermont’s lead to 3-2. However, the undefeated Vermont proved to be too much for the Warriors. Merrimack finished 5-7, falling just short of qualifying for the NECBA playoffs. Overall, the Warriors showed great improvement from last season, as they will begin playing again in the spring.
