LMMCC AGM Minutes for 2010 Season

LMMCC AGM, 13 January 2011 held at Amersham and Chiltern Rugby Club.

Present:     Roy Bazzard, John Brown, Sam Francis, Paul Partridge, Sascha van Praagh, Phil Sutton, John Savage, Nat Baker, Andy Gillanders, Guy Young, James Lyne, Don Crawford, Hugh Connor, Charles Padley, Mark Hallam

Apologies:  Norman Partridge, Toby Sawbridge, Paul Kaye.

2010 Minutes were agreed and approved.

 

Chairman’s Report (John Brown)

 Overall 2010 had been a good year for the club. The club has been fortunate in finding 3 or 4 new players that not only contributed on the pitch but were valuable social members too. Socially 2010 had been a very good year, several BBQ’s arranged after matches, a great game and evening with the President’s XI plus a successful Quiz evening, Club Dinner and Golf day kindly organized by Rosemary Higgs. On the fiscal front the club has continued to strengthen and the club’s finances look to be in good health.

 

Treasurer’s Report (Andy Gillanders)

 Overall expenditure for 2010 was £5492 with overall income at £4749

(Similar to 2009) and the bank balance stands at £5832. Notable expenditure, Kit £600 including the purchase of a bowling machine. Repairs (recovering the roof) and items for the pavilion £820. Maintenance of the ground and mowing equipment continues to be the highest spend area at over £2145, mower repairs and servicing alone at £1500. RB proposed that we accept the accounts as read, seconded by HC. Thanks from the Chair to Andy for all his work running the club’s finances.

 

Fixture Secretary’s Report (Guy Young)

15 fixtures for the 2011 season have already been confirmed.

The traditional season opener with the Bank of England will be the second game of the season as they are starting season a week late this year, we are likely to start against Hawridge & Cholesbury but this to be confirmed following their upcoming AGM.

The President’s XI game has been arranged June 19th.

Fixtures against George Orwell, The Chesham XI and Dinton still to be confirmed.

We have a new fixture for 2011 with Little Kingshill who we have not played for a number of years.

So far 6 ground rentals have been confirmed with the Full Tossers and The Lee who are also to continue to rent the ground on Saturdays for their juniors training.

Guy still waiting for confirmation from Bucks Girls who rented the ground several times in 2010, we are also quite likely to get some rentals from the boys’ sides too.

There may also be possible new opponents in Cublington and the BBC Concert Orchestra XI, Guy to follow up.

PS proposed that we try to arrange a game against The Crown, it was agreed that we try and incorporate them in the Presidents match.

PP asked if we should solicit feedback from teams that hire the ground on their views of the facilities. Consensus was that we should show more ‘interest’ in these sides and make sure that we always presented the Pavilion and Ground to the best of our ability. This led to the suggestion that we try to brighten up the pavilion that is looking a bit dark and drab, to be confirmed via committee meeting.

JB and NP had visited the home of cricket at Broadhalfpenny Down Cricket Club and JB suggested we might be interested in arranging an away day/evening there, again to be reviewed at committee.

Thanks proposed by RB and seconded by JB to Guy for some really good work on behalf the club.

 

Ground Secretary’s Report (Phil Sutton)

Phil reported that the mowers will be going away next for a service pre season.

The hedges have been cut and tidied and look in good order.

Feral but timid cats seem to have moved in under the pavilion and seem to be keeping the rodent and rabbit population under control, far fewer rabbit holes in the grounds than usual at this time of year.

One the residents of Highmoor Cottages is allowing his dogs to foul the grounds, PS and SVP have challenged him but he seems belligerent and unmoved by their requests. RB to write to him and try to warn off, PS to provide RB with details.

Captains Report (Sam Francis)

Sam reported that with the influx of new players that getting a team arranged had been easier than in previous years, occasionally having to disappoint would be players!

Generally play had been much enjoyed and the addition of after match BBQ’s had certainly added to the experience.

One potential new recruit for 2011 has made himself known to us through the club web site.

More new players are needed especially bowlers.

Unfortunately SF will be resigning the Captaincy for 2011, as due to new work commitments with the Wildlife Trust there will be a number of weekends when he will be unavailable. 

A vote of thanks proposed by JB seconded by MH for all Sam’s efforts.

 

Social Report (Charles Padley, Sascha van Praagh)

The Quiz night has already been confirmed for March 25th. In addition to the usual revenue generated by this we have a couple of items for raffle, a signed cricket bat courtesy of Bruce Buller plus a photograpy studio session provided by Paul Kaye’s wife Jenny.

Whilst the BBQ’s provided a good source of income during 2010 SVP urged that we don’t overdo them.

Rosemary Higgs has again kindly agreed to arrange a golf day (Friday Oct 7th), this time the club are likely to benefit from 50% of the proceedings up from the 33% share we received in 2010, thanks to Rosemary from all.

It was agreed that the club dinner again be held at Amersham and Chiltern Rugby Club.

Thanks from all to Sascha, Charles and Norman for their efforts in promoting social events on behalf of the club.

Guy Young was elected as Club Captain, proposed JB and seconded RB.

 

Any Other Business

PP asked that we continue to promote the club web site address in all communications, for the record it is http://freeteams.net/misfits.

We have received several offers via Bucks Cricket association in the last few weeks, but agreed not to attend their marketing day or participate in the Bucks Cup.

We have also recently been invite to consider our position regarding the need for a Child Welfare Officer. GY to investigate further, Nat Baker has volunteered to undertake the role if it is necessary.
