Box Score

May. 30, 2011

A fine performance from Mr Lyne yesterday afternoon, who valiantly carried his bat to an umbeaten 92, ensuring that the Misfits earned a deserved draw. The Strollers had a few handy batsmen, but the bowlers stuck to their task and steadily we got at them. Some excellent catches, notably Brownie (hope the finger is OK) and only one drop (yes - me, and off my own son - sorry mate). Three wickets for Lee: great effort again. Thanks to bowlers Freddie, JB, Will and Alan for taking the pressure well. The Strollers set us a formidable total to chase of 2 hundred and something, and after an excellent tea from my dear wife, James and David set about getting us off to a good start. David lasted the course and was still walking after he holed out. We won't talk about batsmen 3, 4, 5 and 6. Nat came in at 77 for 5, with things looking a little dodgy. We absolutely could not lose, so Nat diligently listened to his Captain, who advised him to take it steady and not get out. He ignored the first instruction but managed to achieve the second, with a swashbuckling performance taking a "No Straight Bat" strategy. His magnificent innings included a huge six into Highmore - Lee would like to point out that his 6 last week was a lot further - and a brutal attack on the smallest man on the pitch, smashing 15 off young Hugo's debut over.

James and Nat had an unbeaten partnership of 97, missing the home record for a sixth wicket stand by just one run; brilliant lads.

The evening was rounded off by an excellent barbeque and a few scoops. Thanks to Sascha for a top effort.

Chorleywood Strollers 210-8 off 44 overs (A. Smethurst 83, J. Stringer 53; L. Quinton 3-52, A. Lever 2-20); Little Missenden Misfits 175-4 off 40 overs (J. Lyne 92no, N. Baker 39no). Match Drawn.

Little Acorns at home next Sunday. Please all fill in the Availability template!!!!!!

Have a good week,
