Player Summary 2012 Season

END-OF-SEASON PLAYER NOTES, 2012

Nat Baker: Played six games, recording two ducks in his four innings. Two catches.

Carl Batchelder: Played six games, finishing as sixth-leading wicket taker with 8, including best figures of 3-17. Led the team bowling averages with 7.12, which also places him top of the all-time averages. Team-best strike rate of 12.75 balls per wicket. Tied for most ducks in the season with four from six innings.

Dominic Brown: Took five wickets in his first four games for the club, including a best return off 3-34.

John Brown: Extended club records in games played (564), runs scored (9,249) wickets (562) and overs bowled (2,644.2).

Andrew Connolly: Played 11 games. Finished with 113 runs at an average of 18.83 and a strike rate of 73.38 (third best on team). Was part of highest partnerships for seventh and ninth wickets. Took five wickets, including a best of 3-24.

George Connolly: Second in wickets taken with 13, including best figures of 4-50 – one of only three 4-wicket hauls for the club. Highest score of 44 and shared in highest seventh and tenth-wicket stands of the season.

Sam Francis: Played four games, giving him 128 all-time – the 16th most in club history. Averaged 8.33 with the bat.

Anthony Gaze: Averaged 18.0 with the bat in his first three games for the club, adding two wickets and two catches.

Zed Girnary: Shoulder injury limited him to two games, recording a duck in his only innings.

Mark Hallam: Leading wicket taker in the club with 14, taking his career total for the club to 70 – 16th in club history. Bowled a team-high 100.5 overs. His 445.2 career overs ranks 12th in club history. Part of best tenth-wicket partnership of the season.

Chris Kaye: Played six games, recording his first half-century for the club (76 not out) and averaging 29.0, which ranked 4th on the team. Shared in best opening partnership of the season (94). Placed second with five dismissals (3 catches, 2 stumpings).

Paul Kaye: Led the team with a 37.0 batting average. Had highest individual innings of season (94) and ranked fourth in runs scored with 222. Second-highest strike rate (85.7) and fourth in boundaries hit (23). Part of only century stand of season (119), sharing in best stands for third and fourth wickets. Became the 20th batsman in club history to top 1,000 runs, finishing season with career total of 1,155 and ranked fourth all-time in batting average (37.2). Took four wickets, including best figures of 3-24, and was joint leader with 4 catches.

Bob Lambert: Played four games, averaging 14.0 with the bat and adding one wicket and one catch.

Malcolm Lambert: His 139 runs included a best score of 66, his first half-century for the club. Shared in third-best partnership of the season (92). Took six wickets, including a best of 4-29, second best figures of the season.

James Lyne: Led the team in runs scored (354) at an average of 35.40. Faced most balls of any batsman (764). One of only two Misfits to score two half-centuries and also had three further scores in the 40s. Featured in the only century stand of the season (119) and in five of top nine partnerships of the season. Part of season-best stands for second, third, fifth and sixth wickets.

Dominic Owen: Played three games, returning best bowling figures of 2-6.

Freddy Owen: Played five matches, scoring 124 runs at 24.80, including two scores in the 40s. Took seven wickets at 15.71

Xavier Owen: Played two games, finishing as most economical bowler with 28 conceded in 12.2 overs (2.27 per over). Top score of 41.

Norman Partridge: Played six games, taking his career total to 178 – tenth-highest in club history

Paul Partridge: Ranked second on the team in runs scored (279) and third in batting average (31.0). One of only two players to hit two half-centuries, taking his career total of fifties to 15, fourth in club history. Finished season ranked fifth in career runs with 2,811. Shared in best partnerships of season for second, fourth and eighth wickets. Had one catch to increase his career total to 66, ninth most in club history.

George Perceval: Played two games, returning club’s best bowling figures of the season (4-18) and finishing second in the bowling averages on 8.60.

Will Russell: Took 10 wickets in his first four games for the club, taking at least 2 in every match. Bowling average of 10.4 ranked third on team and places him fifth highest on the club’s all-time list. Second best strike rate of 14.3 balls per wicket.

David Stewart: Averaged 15.33 with the bat in his first three games for the club.

David Tossell: Led team with 17 games played, ranking third in runs scored (229), second in boundaries (27) and second in balls faced (538). Featured in highest opening partnership of season (94) and was part of four 50-partnerships. Led the team in fielding dismissals (9), stumpings (5) and joint leader in catches (4). Ranks seventh all-time with 7 career stumpings. Captain in four games.

Marius van Zyl: Scored his first half-century for the club and finished with highest batting strike rate in the club (95.7). Finished tied third with 10 wickets at average of 12.60, including best figures of 3-54.

Guy Young: Played in 15 games, all as captain, and entered the top 20 all-time with 103 games played. Recorded most ducks in the team (5). Shared in best ninth-wicket stand of the year.

Will Young: Tied for third on the team with 10 wickets at an average of 26.7, reaching double figures in wickets for second straight year. Had best figures of 3-17. His 64 runs included his best score for the club (21) and he was part of best sixth and eighth-wicket partnerships of season.
