Giants Lose First Season Game Against Pirates, 10-8

Box Score

Apr. 20, 2011

After a 2 ½ week break, the Giants were back on the field in a game against the Pirates.  The game was a late week night game.  The Giants suffered their first lost, with a final score of 10-8, on April 19, 2011.  This was a tough lost for the team, as they fought their way back to almost pick up the win.

This was the first game where there was 3 innings of kid-pitching.  Ben Neadow pitched all three innings for the Giants, allowing only 3 runs while on the mound.   Ben did a great job pitching after returning from such a long break.

There were many great offensive plays for the night.  Nicolas Carrasquero had a triple and a homerun that drove in a RBI.  Charles Sanchez also had a homerun and a second great hit with an RBI.  Ben Neadow had a great hit that resulted in a triple.

The game ball for the night went to Cameren Christian.  Cameren had two great hits that were singles, but also made a great defensive play with a tag-out at second. Coach Todd congratulated Cameren as he was able to help keep the game scoring tight.  Way to go, Cam!  Good job on picking up the game ball!

Much of the game was officiated by one umpire.  A second umpire did enter the game around the fourth inning.  However, it appeared that some calls during the game were not favored by the Giants.  This was a tough break for the team, but the kids did not let them stop them from fighting their way back to make it a close game.

The Giants next game is on Saturday, April 23 at 10:00am where they will face the Tigers at home.  Good luck Giants!!!
