Giants Back on Top with Win Against the Tigers

Box Score

Apr. 24, 2011

The Giants are back on top with a big win against the Tigers, on Saturday April 23, 2011.  The final score, where the Giants were the home team, was 8-3.  The Giants looked good throughout the game and displayed total confidence as they led the game all five innings.

Charles Sanchez pitched an awesome first two innings of the game where he allowed no runs for the Tigers.  Charles even helped his own cause by catching a ball that was hit back to the mound by a batter.  Nick Best came in to pitch the 3rd-inning and final inning of kid pitch.  Nick also did a good job pitching.

The team gelled defensively yesterday and pretty much kept the Tigers in their den. First baseman, Ethan Reusch picked up his second unassisted double play of the season catching a pop-fly and tagging first.  Charles Sanchez picked up his first pop-fly out of the season, while playing left center field.

The Giants were also a beast with their offensive plays.  Ethan Reusch hit a home run in the first inning, which really got the crowd going. Nicholas Carrasquero also contributed with 2 RBIs. However, the play of the game came right after the Tigers walked three of Giants to load the bases.  With two strikes already against him in the 3rd-inning, Charles Sanchez stole the crowd with his GRAND SLAM, bringing in the final 4 runs of the game for the Giants.

Coach Todd was really happy with the team's performance on yesterday. He was most excited that all of the Giants runs were scored off of kid pitch.  He also pointed out some additional great offensive effort by the team, such as Cameren Christian and Ben Neadow as they hustled to the base after hitting the ball.

The Game ball went to Charles Sanchez.  Charles had an extraordinary game on yesterday.  As mentioned earlier, Charles playing multiple positions on yesterday, picked up an out at the pitcher's mound and a pop-fly out in center field.  He also sealed the deal with the grand slam.  This was just simply spectacular! Congrats Charles!!!

The Giants will only have a couple days of rest, as they are expected to take on the Diamondbacks, in a Tuesday week night game on April 26.  The Giants will be the "Away" team.  Good luck, boys!!
