What a Come Back for the Giants!

Box Score

Apr. 27, 2011

The Giants were on the road against the Diamondbacks where they fought their way back to claim a 6 – 5 victory.  Although the Diamondbacks stole the lead in the 2nd – inning, the Giants did not let that phase them.  They had their hearts set, their mind made up, and their winning attitude all in order.  No doubt about it, the Giants came ready to play!

The bottom half of the first inning started with Ben Neadow on the mound. As Ben got off to a slower start than usual, he none-the-less, gave us all the dramatic ending in a true “Neadow” fashion.  With the bases loaded and two outs against them, Ben shut out the D’Backs and finished out the inning allowing, yet again, no runs.  Charles Sanchez started off pitching the 2nd– inning and was later relieved by Ethan Reusch.  With 5 runs picked up by the D’Backs walking the bases in the 2nd inning, Ethan held the opponent with another shut-out in the 3rd – inning.

With the Giants down by four runs, their offense went to work!  The boys were patient and waited on their pitch. With hardly any strikes thrown, Ryan Roberson and  Kian Lindsey and took their bases as the ball count increased. Nick Best hit a homerun that drove in 3 runs.  Ethan Reusch, Ben Neadow, Joshua Goode, and Donovan Dunton-Raiford all had great hits.

As this was the last game with coach-pitching, Coach Todd was pleased to see that the players picked up all runs off of the kid’s pitch.  As a matter of fact, the team has picked up all 14 runs off, which is totally awesome.  Coach Todd commended the team for the hustles around the bases and for sticking with it to pick up the win.

The game ball went to Joshua Goode.  Josh had a terrific hit with his last at bat.  Josh stole the crowd’s heart and help bring the team closer to their victory with that remarkable hit.  Way to hang in there Josh and capture the game ball!

The Giants next game is scheduled for April 30 as they visit the Pirates.  This time, we plan to Win!
