Giants Suffer Another Lost to the Pirates

Box Score

May. 1, 2011

The Giants were handed their second lost of the season on Saturday, April 30 to the Pirates with a final score of 10 – 1.  The Giants have not found a way to top the Pirates this season, as both losses were to the Pirates.

Ben Neadow started off as the lead pitcher and was later relieved by Ethan Reusch.  Though both boys did their best, the Giants were not able to catch many breaks on yesterday.  The opponent was able to pull ahead in the second-inning and dominated the game.

The Giants were missing Charles Sanchez, a key player, who was out due to an injury.  With the team down by one player, the Giants made adjustments shifting players around, which included the placement of Joshua Goode as catcher for three out of a total of four game innings played.  Josh did a "goode" job catching and stopping the balls behind the plate.

Coach Todd is anxious to get the players back on the field this week to practice and prepare for this weekend’s double-header.  He reminded the players that with only kid pitching left, they must watch the ball and be prepared to swing at the strikes.  He also told the players they must remember to listen to the coaches while running the bases.

Ben Neadow was the recipient of the game ball.  After leaving the mound, Ben was moved to first base.  As first baseman, Ben made an unassisted double play, catching a pop-fly and tagging the base to get the runner out.  Congratulations Ben…great job there, buddy!

This weekend will sure to be packed with action as the Giants take on the Cubs and the Braves on Saturday, May 7.  Let’s Go Giants!
