Giants and Cubs Faceoff Again with Similar Results; A Win for the Giants

Box Score

May. 9, 2011

Saturday’s game against the Cubs was the first of two games played by the Giants on May 7, 2011.  With no field practice for the past two weeks, due to seasonal rain, the Giants did not appear to be rusty at all.  The Giants were able to pull off another win against the Cubs in their second match up of the season with a final score of 15 -5.

Nick Best was up first on the mound.  With a slow start in the first inning, giving up five runs, Nick came back in the second to complete a shutout inning.  His second inning included two strikeouts.  Charles Sanchez, relieved Nick in third inning.  You could not tell that Charles had just come back off of an injury.  Charles delivered several strikes and pitched two shut out innings, allowing no additional runs in the game.

The team’s offense was amazing.  With all kid pitch, the Giants had to come ready for action.  Though many of our players were walked, several of the Giants were able to take advantage of some great pitches.   Nicolas Carrasquero, Charles Sanchez and Ben Neadow all had great hits that resulted in RBIs.

Kian Lindsey also had a great game Saturday.  Kian had two great hits in the game.  One hit also drove in a run, which also gave him his RBI.  With such great hits, Kian found himself receiving the game ball.  Congratulations Kian!  Way to go!

With less than an half hour to prepare for the second game in their double-header on Saturday, the boys rejuvenated by chowing down on hotdogs, chips and Gatorade provided by one of our awesome set of parents.
