UCSB Field Hockey is a Sport Club competing under the Department of Recreation at University of California, Santa Barbara. The program competes regionally in the Western Collegiate Field Hockey Conference (WCFHC) and nationally as a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Intercollegiate Associate. The conference and the association govern regular season and national championship tournament play and use student-athlete eligibility rules similar to those of the NCAA.

Oct 19, 2014 - UCSB's Team Play Pushed Them Past UCSD

 UCSB traveled to San Diego yesterday to take on the Triton's of UCSD.  The Gauchos played strong from the first whistle to the final blow.  UCSB entered the half time with a 1-0 lead.  Into the secod half, the Guachos came out strong, holding UCSD to 2 shots on goal, placing 4 additional goals in the back of the UCSD cage by the conclusion of the 2nd half.  Both first year team member, Jakob Muench from Berlin, Germany, and Captain, 4-year starter, Jen Atkinson scored 2 goals each.  Jakob lead the team with 2 goals and one assist.  Sopohmore, Veronica Qu also found the back of the cage, while Captain, Caley Seaton and first year team member, Katherine Novak assisted a goal each.  The Gauchos are now 2-0 in the season and the league.  The team will continue to work hard and prepare to face USC on Saturday, Oct. 25th at USC's home field which is played on AstroTurf on the Moorpark College Campus in Moorpark, Ca.  The team would like to thank all of the families and friends that were able to come out to support the team while they took on the Triton's during their first away game of the 2014 season.    

Oct 11, 2014 - Home/Season Opener Facing Claremont McKenna

UCSB opened up today against Claremont McKenna.  With a strong and returning starting lineup and a solid bench, the Gauchos are off to a great start for their season.  Looking at the Guachos roster, you will notice 14 returning players, along with 3 returning captains, and 6 new players to the squad.  The Gauchos beat Claremont McKenna 17-0, with 9 different players scoring and 9 different players assisting those goals.  There were five players who tallied at least one goal and one assist, with Maisie Todd leading the pack with 5 goals.  UCSB's biggest success in the game was their continuous hard work and developmental improvement demonstrated through their skills and game strategies.  The Gauchos will continue to work hard this week as they take on rivals UCSD away on Saturday, October 18th.  Thank you to all family and friends that came out to support our Gauchos today.

Oct 3, 2014 - 2014 Home/Season Opener

The Gauchos will be hosting Claremont McKenna College for their home/season opener.  Come out and support us on Saturday, Oct. 11th at 12pm.  The Gauchos home field is played on the Rec Center's turf fields.  The Gauchos were scheduled to host a double header that weekend with USC on Sunday, Oct. 12th, this game has been reschedule to Nov. 15th, the time is still TBD.  We hope to see a lot of support next weekend.  Keep an eye out for the release of the 2014 Field Hockey roster and game updates.  

Sep 22, 2014 - Preseason 2014 begins today!

Preseason for UCSB field hockey has officially begun.  After a strong year, and earning the WCFHC Championship for the second year in a row, the team is ready to bring on a new year.  UCSB is returning 15 players and gaining 5 more, a combination of international, transfer, and incoming freshman.  We are very excited to begin the new year.  Please check out our field hockey schedule and keep an eye on us through this website.

If you are interested in joining the team, practices are every weekday, Monday through Friday, from noon-2pm on the Rec Cen Turf Field #2.
