Nov 6, 2012 - FIU Scrimmage Results
The Canes concluded their 2012 Fall Ball season with a scrimmage victory against cross-town FIU by a score of 12-4. It was the Canes’ first game under new coaching staff of Head Coach Joe Conner and Assistant Coach Scott Marsicano. The Canes were led in the points category by a handful of returners. Attackmen Sean Schnitzer and Emmett Torney each recorded 3 goals apiece. Midfielders Stephen Schellbach (1G, 2A) and Jake Shapiro (2G, 1A) and attackmen Thomas Pecca (2G) and Chris Cordero (1A) wrapped up the scoring for returners. The Canes also received contributions from a number of key new players. Attackmen Dan Lopez (1G, 1A), Rob Kelly (1A), and Paolo Concepcion (1A) as well as midfielder Jake Fields (1A) all tallied points. Also, the Canes’ three freshman goalies, Andy Hook, Dougie Nelson, and Chase Oswald combined for a solid performance allowing only 4 goals collectively. The Canes will begin their spring season with a rematch with FIU in January.
Another note from the game: Junior midfielder Ian Quinlan suffered a serious shoulder injury and we wish him a speedy recovery.
