Tony Pianto is beginning his 11th season as the Varsity Head Coach at Westmont High School, following two successful seasons as the Frosh-Soph Head Coach in 2005 and 2006. As a Head Coach at Westmont, Coach Pianto has led the Warriors to a combined overall record of 200-139 (.695), including Mt. Hamilton Divison Championships in 2013 and 2016; and, seven consecutive CCS appearances from 2008-2014, the most in Westmont history.
In 2014, Coach Pianto took the Warriors to the finals of the Division I Central Coast Section Playoffs, where the Warriors lost a close game to Wilcox High School, 4-2. The championship appearance was the first for any Westmont baseball team since 1982. The Warriors 23-10 season set a school record for wins in a season, and with 22 wins in 2016, Coach Pianto has now led the Warriors to 20+ wins in four season. In 2013, Coach Pianto was named "Coach of the Year" in the Mt. Hamilton Division after the Warriors clinched a league title and advanced to the Semi-Finals of the CCS Championships.
Coach Pianto was born and raised in San Jose and attended Archbishop Mitty High School and Mission College. He played four years of baseball at Archbishop Mitty and was named 1st Team all League his senior year in the W.C.A.L.
He has been a Firefighter for the past 33 years and is currently a Captain in the San Jose Fire Department. He lives in San Jose with his wife Cathy. He has a daughter, Danielle, and a son, AJ, who helped to coach the JV team at Westmont last season and is currently a Police Officer for the City of Santa Clara.
