Tony Pianto is beginning his fifth season as the Varsity Head Coach at Westmont High School, following two successful seasons as the Frosh-Soph Head Coach in 2005 and 2006. As a Head Coach at Westmont, Coach Pianto has led the Warriors to a combined overall record of 92-71 (.560), including three CCS appearance over the past three years.
Coach Pianto has been involved in coaching youth baseball for the past 17 years. Most recently, he coached the Silicon Valley River Cats, a travel team that started in the 14 under division and finished in the 18-under division. In his five-year tenure as the River Cats’ coach, the team enjoyed several successful seasons. From 1995 to 2005, Coach Pianto was heavily involved with Branham Hills Little League, coaching numerous teams including All-Stars and Tournament of Champion seeds. He has coached six teams to League Championships and guided his 13-year-old All-Star team to a District Championship in 2003.
Coach Pianto was born and raised in San Jose and attended Archbishop Mitty High School and Mission College. He played four years of baseball at Archbishop Mitty and was named 1st Team all League his senior year in the W.C.A.L.
He has been a Firefighter for the past 27 years and is currently a Captain in the San Jose Fire Department. He lives in San Jose with his wife Cathy and daughter, Danielle. His son, AJ, is currently playing baseball at Santa Rosa Jr. College.
